Pebble Beach Motoring Classic
As August approaches, we anticipate the Pebble Beach Concours as one of the premier events of the motoring season. For the last 10 years or so, Al and Sandi McEwan have led a parade of some of the finest cars in the world from Kirkland, Washington to the grassy environ of the 17 Mile Drive. Take a look at this Seattle Times article covering the event.
2015 PNR-CCCA CARavan
Our 2015 National CARavan begins in beautiful Lake Couer d’Alene, Idaho at the Couer d’Alene Golf & Spa Resort with a group dinner and luxury accommodations. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kNLvGUzB9Y)
We next motor north into British Columbia with a lunch stop at the Kokanee Springs Golf Resort, at Crawford Bay, a short ferry boat ride across Kootenay Lake and a 20 mile drive along the lake to the Prestige Inn on the waterfront in Nelson, BC. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjgNpUWQNv0)
We continue north to Halcyon Hot Springs at Nakusp, overlooking the Arrow Lake. Another short ferry boat ride at Galena takes us to the Revelstoke side where we pick up Transcanada #1 to the Three Valley Gap Resort & Historic Heritage Center. There, we will have a self guided tour of the on-site pioneer town, followed by a steak BBQ. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9TVxpJz_wI)
Our next stop is the famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise for lunch in a private dining room overlooking beautiful Lake Louise. After lunch, there is plenty of time for shopping and sightseeing before checking in to the Rimrock Hotel, perched above downtown Banff on the side of the mountain. We will enjoy a banquet in the hotel the first night. Day two is open with an off-site group dinner. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfKBaxgFFWE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4jYiBvuxXM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wETgdf9FM-4)
From Banff we will motor as a group through the Banff National Park to Fairmont Hot Springs Golf Resort for lunch and then on to the St. Eugene Golf Resort at Cranbrook that also features a spa and casino. St. Eugene is a former First Nation Indian Mission School and the staff will share the history of the place with us at dinner. The following morning will be at your leisure with breakfast on your own in one of the two restaurants. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GNRJu6zwfA)
You might even book a golfing time as the drive across the border to our next stop, The Lodge at Whitefish, Montana, where we will meet again for dinner, is less than two hours away. The following day you are on your own again, relaxing by the lake, boating, driving the “Going to the Sun Road” to Lake McDonald for lunch in their lodge, shopping in Whitefish, or whatever suits your fancy. That night we have a group dinner in the waterfront pavilion at the Lodge at Whitefish. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJcnoTwMJP8)
After two days at Whitefish we will continue back to Couer d’Alene for our final dinner and last night stay.

LeMay Museum Status
As most of us locals know, there is a lot of activity down in the City of Destiny. The LeMay Museum construction is pretty much at a close and the final preparation for the Grand Opening Weekend (June 2, 3 and 4) is underway. When this first phase opens for business, it will be the largest car museum in the US and the third largest in the world. Be sure to head on over to the site next to the Tacoma Dome, either for the invitation-Gala on the 2nd of June or for the two days following, where invitations to a collection of cars from the Pacific Northwest will grace the showfield and the museum will be formally open.
This is a treasure that the Pacific Northwest Region of the CCCA heartily endorses! See you in Tacoma.
Chateau Ste Michelle Staycation
The Ste Michelle Winery played host to all those in the area who opted to stay home over the Memorial Day weekend, but couldn’t quite face up to doing yardwork for three days straight. The PNR-CCCA was represented by 8 classics, 10 cars by my count (although I will admit to a glass of wine or two, so the numbers could be off. To see pictures of this event, take a look at the following compilations. And stay tuned to similar events in the near future, such as our Fathers’ Day gathering at the Ballard Locks for food, fun and music – plus the Lynnwood-based charity event on the 24th. The weather held up on this particular Sunday, and I was able to fill my wine cellar!

Director’s Message
I am willing to bet that the snow is now distant in everyone’s memory and the rain is showing signs of giving us respite. It is time to hit the road. With three events already complete, we look forward to a series of activities over the Spring, the Summer and beyond. Join us for one of these motoring classics.

2010 Pacific Northwest CARavan
In June 2010, an intrepid group of classic car enthusiasts made a grand circle starting in Kirkland’s waterfront and moving through Sun Mountain near Winthrop, on to Kelowna, winding our way West to Whistler and ending in the ever-charming Victoria BC.
