PNR-CCCA Event for October!

PNR-CCCA Event for October!

Lake Chelan in the fall is amazing! The drive over, with the leaves in full fall fashion mirror the colors found in the Northeast. The portion over Stevens Pass that time of year is breathtaking.  Enjoy the Bavarian Village quaintness of Leavenworth. Lunch at the 59er Diner in Cashmere, home of Tiny’s and many antique stores. Enjoy the scenic highway paralleling the beautiful Columbia River.   Coming up over the hill on I-97, viewing the incredibly blue Lake Chelan is a highlight of the drive.

Once in Chelan, there are a number of entertaining things to do. The Crush Festival, which is a harvest season celebration for the wine industry, is in full swing. At the same time, the Mahogany and Merlot Event has been organized for its 7th year.  The past 4 years, members of the PNR-CCCA have been supporting this event with the display of our Classics.

One of the highlights of the weekend within this event is the running of the retired Vintage Unlimited Thunderboats. These are the boats that used to compete on Lake Washington for the annual Seafair Races. These boats have been meticulously restored to their original condition. Miss Bardahl, Miss Budweiser, Atlas Van Lines and Oh Boy Oberto have been raced at the past couple of years at Mahogany and Merlot. Limited Vintage Hydros make a big showing also.

In the marina will be the Vintage Wooden Boats.  Thirty to forty wooden boats will be on display.

As you hopefully already are aware, we again have been invited to be a part of this fun event. As Manager of this event, Norma and I are hoping you are as excited about attending as we are. Lake Chelan is one of Washington States most sought after vacation paradises. We hope you will join us on the weekend of September 29 thru October 2.

There are several groups organizing to depart on either Thursday or Friday and we want you to be a part of it. Attached is a flyer on the event and contact information for the hotel. Please join in on the fun.

See you in Chelan!!     Kim Pierce, Event Manager

Historical Record of the Bumper Guardian

We are assembling issues of all our club newsletters as a club resource and to bring back old memories. As we move forward, we will be adding an index to provide easier access to the technical articles, the information about our region’s cars, and some fun articles related to the era of our automotive focus.  Click on the tab labeled Bumper Guardian, to see links to our collection of our magazines starting in 1964.

Pebble Beach Motoring Classic

As August approaches, we anticipate the Pebble Beach Concours as one of the premier events of the motoring season.  For the last 10 years or so, Al and Sandi McEwan have led a parade of some of the finest cars in the world from Kirkland, Washington to the grassy environ of the 17 Mile Drive.  Take a look at this Seattle Times article covering the event.

Chateau Ste Michelle Staycation

The Ste Michelle Winery played host to all those in the area who opted to stay home over the Memorial Day weekend, but couldn’t quite face up to doing yardwork for three days straight.  The PNR-CCCA was represented by 8 classics, 10 cars by my count (although I will admit to a glass of wine or two, so the numbers could be off.  To see pictures of this event, take a look at the following compilations.  And stay tuned to similar events in the near future, such as our Fathers’ Day gathering at the Ballard Locks for food, fun and music – plus the Lynnwood-based charity event on the 24th.  The weather held up on this particular Sunday, and I was able to fill my wine cellar!

The Annual Coming Out Party is the premier event for the year.  Members and their guests will enjoy a sumptuous dinner among friends (provocative people and classy cars).  This year’s event is held at the Seattle Design Center on March 21st.  If you are a member of the club (or want to renew acquaintance with a current member), you do not want to miss it.
